I am continuing on with the topic of getting your website listed in Google and other search engines, but instead of preparing for pay-per-click ads, today I am going to start to discuss what you can do to get your website to start showing up in the organic search results.

It is very important that you do everything possible to optimize your website for search engines to give your site the best possible chance to get listed, and also to establish a high ranking. That is an important topic that I will go into more detail on next time. There are many pieces to the puzzle that all fit together to help you get organic search engine results, and today I am going to focus on the concept of what you are trying to do, and how you are going to start doing it.

Traffic from organic search results is the best traffic because it does not cost you anything, but getting your website to show up in the organic listings is not just going to happen. You have to make it happen. But, all it takes is the a little effort on your part, and the willingness to start expanding your horizons as a website owner and an Internet marketer. Change your approach, and you can be getting those free clicks to your website from targeted visitors on an ongoing basis.

Preparing your website to show up in organic search engine listings is very similar to what I showed you regarding preparing your website for a pay-per click campaign. The key difference is that with a pay-per-click advertising campaign, you are creating specific web pages, blog posts, and unique content to be the destination for a specific ad for a targeted niche market.

With the organic listings, you are not able to define exactly when your website will appear in the search results the way you do with pay-per-click, but you can do everything in you power to give it the best chance to show up in the organic results. And you can keep adding more unique and relevant content until you are achieving the results you are looking for.

Now let’s get one thing straight right from the start. I am not talking about showing up at the top of page one in Google’s search results for “Home Business Opportunity.” I am talking about getting into the head of the searcher, and helping them find your website when they are searching for things that relate their own life.

There are countless people out there that are prime candidates for a home business opportunity, but they are never going to go to Google and type in “Home Business Opportunity.” It is just not in their mindset to do that. However, given the right circumstances, they would certainly be open to learning about an opportunity from someone they had a relationship with or felt was a credible source of information.

That is who you are portraying yourself as, and who you are going to become. Being perceived as a credible source of information puts you in a great position to introduce other topics to people, and basic human nature will make people respect your opinions on other topics as well.

Your mission is to make a list of niche markets you want to market to. Then sit down and make a list of things that are important to or of interest to each of those niche markets. That will give you the topics that you are going to create web pages and or blog posts about. You want to learn as much as you can about each niche market that you are targeting, and then you are going to share your new found knowledge with them. You are now the expert and the provider of information, and more times than not in this world, perception is reality.

If your pages have interesting, relevant, and unique content, then your pages will have value. They have value not only to the reader, but they will also have value to Google. The reason Google does not like simple business opportunity lead generation pages is because they perceive them as ads. They don’t feel that these pages provide quality content to the searcher, and therefore, they don’t give them a high ranking. As a matter of fact, they even ban them from their listings sometimes.

Now, we all know how important your branded lead generation page is to turning a visitor into an actual lead, but we also know that you cannot generate any leads from a web page that is not getting traffic. That is the whole reason we are talking about this, and I don’t want you to lose sight of that fact.

Yes, I want you to add unique and targeted relevant content to your websites. Yes, I want you to start blogging and adding new content to your site on a regular basis. But I want you to do all that so that you can ultimately get those visitors to your content pages and blog posts so they can ultimately click through to your branded lead generation page. You are just going to learn how to bring them in though the side door, and the beauty of doing it this way is they are much more likely to be receptive to what they see because they already accept you as credible.

The key is that all your content pages and blog posts are all part of your branded website. It does not matter what page a visitor enters your site from because every page will have the same look and feel. Every page will have your branded custom header, and your real message will be displayed so they cannot miss it even while they are reading the content that ultimately brought them to your site. There will always be some content built into the design that will guide visitors to where you ultimately want them to end up…your lead generation page.

Just in case you are just getting started in the Internet marketing world, and you are not clear about what I am talking about, then let me give a quick explanation. When you go to Google or any other search engine there are two different sets of results. The organic listings are delivered by the search engine, and you cannot pay to appear in them. The sponsored listings are made up of advertisers like yourself who are paying the search engine when your ad is clicked.

Sure it’s great if your ad shows up high in the sponsored listings, because it gives you a better chance of getting a click, but that click is going to cost you money every time. You may or may not get a lead every time, but you will definitely get charged a fee.

But what if your website started showing up in the organic listings? How great would that be if you started getting clicks from search engines that did not cost you money. It would be fantastic, and there is no reason that you cannot be getting that free targeted traffic from search engines the same way you get the paid traffic. You just need to set a plan on who you are attracting and then implement it by creating content to get those people to your website.

OK…so do you remember previously when I said that the biggest roadblock to success is one’s inability or refusal to embrace Internet marketing, and their status as a professional Internet marketer? Now is the time for you to start doing the things that will make you an Internet marketer, and not just somebody with a lonely website looking for visitors.

I am going to show you exactly what you can do to start getting targeted traffic to your website, and stop getting hassled by Google about your page quality. You will decide who you are targeting, and you decide how to can create content designed especially for them.

As you probably know by now, we have changed our website at www.TheHomeBusinessPeople.com over to a WordPress website, and we are also making all new websites for our customers on the WordPress platform. There are a number of reasons why we are doing this which I have gone into in previous post, but the simple reason is that it works.

Let’s start with your custom branded lead generation page or site. This is where the money is, because this is where you are ultimately going to capture your lead’s contact information. This is where you introduce and brand yourself while sharing enough information about your opportunity to make your targeted visitors want to know more.

You need your custom branded lead generation website to close the deal, but sometimes you just cannot get your prospects to your site because Google does not like it. They might say it is poor quality or it does not meet their guidelines or any number of other things that can drive you crazy trying to figure out what to do to get traffic. You’re willing to pay them for the visitors so why won’t they let you?

Well…it turns out they will send you the traffic as long as you play the game the way they want you to. You have to accept the fact that you love your website and Google doesn’t. You know your site converts visitors into leads, but Google does not want to send you the visitors because they don’t like your website. So it is time to play the game the way they want you to play it.

Content! Content! Content!

Google wants to send their searchers to pages with content directly related to what they searched for. Not content that can be found on numerous other websites. They want to see fresh, new, relevant, unique content that is on topic with what the searcher is looking for. Google is looking to return quality search results to their searchers, and to Google, that is not a business opportunity ad page. It is information.

So, how do you put your custom branded lead generation page to work to deliver Google the right stuff? You do it by blogging and adding relevant pages with quality content. You do it by getting involved in your marketing, and not by hoping to find the right person or company to pay to find the traffic for you. The only way to succeed without an unlimited bankroll for advertising is to work it.

Make a list of all the target markets you want to go after. then make a list of all the things you can think of that are of real interest to those niche markets. You are going to have to try to educate yourself on each market you want to target so that you can understand what makes that group tick and what will be of interest to them. And then, you job is to deliver it to them.

Go to the top listed websites that sell things to a specific niche market or cater to their social or business needs. Read what these sites are talking about and writing about. Read their blogs and read the comments left by their followers. Then when you feel like you have something that you can talk about, start writing and posting to your blog.

Each blog post has its own unique url and can be the destination url for a Google Adwords Ad. You don’t have to send people directly to your beautiful custom branded lead generation page. You can start by getting them to your blog post on a topic that they want to read about. Give them something to read that is both interesting and informative. You don’t have to come up with ideas all by yourself because you will get the ideas from the people and websites that you visit for your research.

Just take concepts and ideas that you find, and then put them into your own words. Do a little research and then put the thoughts into your own words. Suddenly, you are a person who understands your visitor, and you have credibility because they can relate to what you are saying. If you give them good information or insight, then they will want to read more.

Now, here is the good part. With your WordPress website, your blog page and all the blog posts can share the exact same look and feel as your custom branded lead generation page. Your custom header will be up at the top of the page. Any pictures and message you want to make sure they see can also be built into your design. You can have links in your posts to your main page or you can rely on your website design and layout to have enough information and links on the outside of the blog posts, so that it will entice the targeted visitor to work their way directly to your home page.

The concept is simple. Fill your website with pages blog posts, and then write specific ads for each blog post. Use specific keywords in your blog posts and in your ads so they are created in unison to work together. You can also use current events and highly searched names and places in your posts so that you can use them in your ads. Create content and ads that work together and Google will like you much better.

Today, we will begin with the topic that more people ask me about than any other. I am sure it comes as no surprise to you that I am talking about Google. The monster of all search engines. The single source of the largest number of potential prospects in one place, but alas, how do you access them?

As we all know (or should know), there are two distinct parts of Google, and you have the opportunity to take advantage of both. I am referring to their generic or organic listings, and their pay-per-click or sponsored listings.

Not everyone wants to play the pay-per-click game to market their website, and by no means do you have to do that in order to succeed. But, if you are going to do it, then you have to learn to play by the rules. When I say “the rules,” I mean Google’s rules, and of course, you must be aware of the fact that Google is always changing the rules.

So we must all learn to adapt. The first step is to learn what is working with Google today, and then take advantage of it for as long as you can. If and when they change the rules, which they will do eventually, then be prepared to adapt to those changes. That is true for all aspects of Internet marketing, so even though I am talking about Google right now, keep in mind that you will always need to evolve as marketing landscape evolves.

Before we get in too deep, let’s take a quick class in Google 101. Understanding what Google is looking for requires you to understand why Google does what it does.

Google is the undisputed heavyweight search engine champion of the world. Over 50% of all Internet searches take place on Google, and they do everything in their power to maintain their dominant position.

They know the best way to stay number one is to keep their searchers happy, and the way they do that is to provide  a positive experience to their searchers. A positive experience to Google means that the searcher is presented with a variety of results delivering content that is original, unique, and relevant to their search. If they can consistently provide searchers with quality results, then those searchers will continue to go to Google for their Internet searches.

So now you know what Google wants, and it is your mission to deliver it to them. It cannot be any more simple than that. Instead of asking why your website is not showing up in Google or why Google says you have a poor page quality score, try giving Google what they want, and you will start getting the traffic you want from them.

That is enough of an overview of Google, and now we are going to move on to the actual steps you can and will take to deliver Google the goods. In the next two installments of “Solutions: Your Guide to Successful Internet Marketing,” I will detail the specific things you can do with your website to get your pay-per-click campaign delivering the results you want, and also start showing up in Google’s organic search results.
